The vacant port on the Iranian shore, in Khosro Khosrani's The Port, is used as a symbol  of his nation's past and the contemporary age. The port becomes a metaphor for the hope, longing and expectation of the people who come to it to stand and gaze at the sea which rolls endlessly to an unknown horizon.
